Purpose of the standard :
EN ISO 11612 specifies requirements for protective clothing against heat and/or flame, excluding hand protection.
Application domain :
Clothing falling under this standard is designed to protect against flame and heat, and can be worn in a variety of situations where there is a risk of contact with these elements.
Head and foot protection :
The only clothing covered by this standard for the head and feet are gaiters, balaclavas and shoe covers. However, no requirements are given for visors and breathing apparatus.
Performance reading :
The performance of clothing conforming to the EN ISO 11612 standard is measured by six indices:
A: Flame propagation.
B: Resistance to convective heat.
C: Resistance to radiant heat.
D: Resistance to molten aluminum splashes.
E: Resistance to molten iron splashes.
F: Resistance to contact heat.
Performance Levels :
Each index has different performance levels, measured in resistance time or throw weight
