PPE against chemical risks

Wearing personal protective equipment for long periods of time is the source of discomfort or discomfort: weight, heat, excessive pressure on a part of the body, hearing or visual discomfort, loss of dexterity, etc. In order to facilitate acceptance of the PPE and to improve its effectiveness, it is important to respect the following rules:

• Choose PPE adapted to the nature of the risk, the characteristics of the employee (morphology) and the working conditions (duration, temperature, etc.).
• Associate users with PPE choices
• Train operators in their use
• Adapt work rhythms to take into account the constraints generated by wearing PPE
• Seek advice from the occupational physician to identify the appropriate PPE and seek appropriate solutions for certain employees (allergic, wearers of glasses, etc.)
• Testing the effectiveness of PPE at the workstation
