LEARN MORE
The fire hoses allow water to be transported in the hydraulic devices of fight against the fire.
These are flexible hoses fitted with standardized fittings. Some countries use Guillemin type fittings; other countries use Storz type fittings or screw fittings.
A division can be installed which allows several lances to be supplied from a single pipe coming from the van.
The very long pipes are placed on a reel, a drum on wheels fitted with a handle allowing it to be towed. There are also fixed rotating reels on fire trucks for the extinction of small fires, with a semi-rigid hose (lance of the rotating reel or LDT, similar to a armed with fire tap or RIA).
Most current pipes are said to have a "smooth internal wall" (PIL); this being rubberized they have less pressure drop than traditional pipes. The outer walls are either textile (polyesters) or rubberized.
