EN469 firefighters intervention suit

EN 469 standards:

Performance requirements for protective clothing for firefighters
The EN 469: 2005 standard specifies the levels of performance requirements for protective clothing for firefighters.
It demands high performance, which is verified in 20 tests. Essentially, the standard determines 4 key values: Xf (flame), Xr (radiance), Y (waterproof) and Z (breathability).
EN 469 + A1 (2007): “Fire fighting”:
Application domain : Protective clothing for firefighters (fire fighting)
Goal : Protect firefighters during firefighting interventions and associated activities.

What does this standard consist of?

This standard makes it possible to define two levels according to the risk assessment: level 1 and level 2. Level 2 being the higher level.
This is a jacket / pants or jumpsuit set covering bust, neck, arms up to the wrists and legs up to the ankles.
For complete protection, additional equipment to protect the head, face, hands and feet should also be worn.
The product must meet the following requirements:

Heat transfer (flame and radiation): The sample is held above the flame or an IR spectrum and it is measured how many seconds the sample can be exposed before reaching a temperature rise of 24 ° C.

EN 15614: 2007

Performance requirements for forest firefighting clothing
The EN 15614: 2007 standard sets out the various performance requirements that clothing worn during firefighting in natural areas must meet. As forest fires occur mainly in summer, radiant heat can be very high for a very long time. Clothing that meets this standard helps prevent metabolic heat from getting too high. Clothing suitable for these conditions should be light without causing heat stress.

EN ISO 15384: 2020

New performance requirements for forest fire fighting clothing
This new standard replaces standard EN 15614.
It also sets out the various performance requirements that forest firefighting clothing must meet.

EN ISO 20471: 2013

High visibility clothing for professional use:

Interventions on roads are much more frequent than interventions on fires. To perform these tasks safely, you need high visibility clothing. This type of clothing will alert motorists that you are on the road. High visibility clothing can save lives, especially in complex environments. For example: when bad weather is added to road markings, lights of other vehicles, wet surfaces, etc.
The risk analyzes of the brigades require that the equipment for the interventions conforms to the standard EN ISO 20471: 2013. There are two options for complying with this standard. First, make an EN 469 resistance which also complies with EN ISO 20471: 2013. Second, you can wear a class 2 vest that conforms to EN ISO 20471: 2013.

 

EN 1149-5

European standard EN 1149-5 provide protective clothing for avoid electric shocks which can be incendiary in an ATEX zone (Explosive Atmosphere), an area in which the risk of explosion is greater than average. Work clothing adapted to the activity and the risks it may present for the worker is essential. Standard EN 1149-5 specifies the requirements relating to the design and materials of electrostatic charge dissipation clothing of the type: hood, cap, pants, jacket, vest, etc. and equipment such as knee pads or soles for example.
